This is a Star Wars inspired, fan made replica Stormtrooper helmet kit that replicates those used in episodes 4 and 5. Photo #1 shows what you will be receiving. Photos #2, #3, #4, and #5 are shown as an example of what your helmet can look like when finished. Those are all images of our kits, that we have assembled. We also offer a full armor kit. Check our other listings for that kit. You have an option with your helmet kit. Please let us know if you would like your helmet to be a “Stunt” version or a “Hero” version. Photo #2 is built as a “stunt” helmet. “Stunt” helmets were typically in the background on screen whereas the helmets that were close to camera or worn by the hero actors are called “hero” helmets. The differences with the stunt version include flat green lenses, 8 holes in the frown, 4 bumps on each ear, and 2 visible screws on the sides of the ear. Photos #3, #4, and #5 show a helmet that was built as a “hero” version. The differences with the hero version include smoke acrylic “bubble” lenses, 6 holes in the frown, 3 bumps on each ear, and 1 visible screw on the sides of the ear. Photo #6 shows the lens options. The top set of lenses are the smoke acrylic “bubble” lenses, typically used in the hero version. The lower set of lenses are flat green lenses, typically used in the stunt version. Many people choose the flat lenses as they are easier to see through. Some people choose to make a hero version but with flat green lenses. It is completely up to you. This is a kit and it will need to be trimmed and assembled. We include a QR code (and link) for finding our online assembly tutorial which has an extensive collection of photos for this item. The tutorial shows how to cut the plastic, using a “score and snap” method utilizing an exacto blade, pliers, sanding block, and a dremel. This kit is made using. 09 thick ABS plastic which is more durable than kits made with thinner or lesser quality material. It is a very durable material and works great for costuming / display. We can also make the kit using black plastic on request. The kit does include everything needed to build the helmet, including: accurate “HOVI” resin mic tips with stainless steel screens, decals, stencils for painting the frown and chin, rubber edge trim, rubber brow trim, screws, lenses, and mesh for the frown. We do NOT include foam or anything for the interior padding. Our kit has lineage to a screen used costume so it retains many of the asymmetrical qualities going back to the original hand sculpted piece. We call this the “goose-bumpy” stuff because it is exciting to hold the piece and watch the original films, knowing that it came from those, sometimes being able to see the same tells on screen. If you are looking for a perfectly symmetrical / idealized piece, this is not that. This is a one size only costume, made to replicate the size of the costumes used in the films. The original costumes were made to fit a person approximately 5′ 10 tall and 160 lbs. This is the “ideal” size but this kit has been known to work for people ranging in size from 5’4″ to 6’2″. This kit design, often referred to as a “MC” or “T/MC” kit within the costuming communities, has been around since 2006 with upgrades made over time. The “MC” brand has been respected within the replica prop and costuming communities since 1999. If you are looking for 501 approval, it is accepted, and for higher tiers as well.
